Strategies to Turn Holiday Shoppers into Repeat Customers

The holidays are a great time of year to get new customer interested in your business. The trick is to take these new customers and to turn them into repeat customers which is what you need to sustain your business over the long haul. Here’s some way to get repeat business after the holidays are over.

Mailing List/Newsletter

Getting people to sign up for your mailing list is critical as this helps to generate sales leads for you. Over the holidays try to have a promotion or a special offer that you can give away as a reward for signup for your mailing list. Your list is a critical part of developing good relationships with your customers and to getting people to come back and visit you again in the future.  Make sure you don’t push your list too much just make it a natural part of your website. Most people will be interested in receiving more information from you, especially if there’s something free as a reward for a signup.

Once you have those signups you can send out your newsletter to your subscribers. Make sure your newsletter is information packed and provides real value for the reader, don’t just make it a big sales pitch as this will fail. You might consider a special newsletter to send out to those that have bought form you to thank them for their business. You may offer them a freebie or other incentive to come back and shop again after the season is over. Social Media

Make sure you keep in touch with customers over the holidays via social media. You want to form a good relationship with your customers. Make sure you send offers and other promotions through social media to get people to come back to your website and look round. Think of things such as New Year’s specials and so on. Be sure to engage the readers and give them content though, you don’t want to just spam them with offers as this won’t work. If you can be seen as approachable on social media this gives the customer the confidence they need to come back and buy from you again in the future. Offer Gift Cards and Other Incentives

Once you have a customer, you wan to keep that customer. One way to do this is to give them an incentive to come back and visit you again. You might offer them a gift card or a certain amount off on their next purchase. Most people will appreciate little incentives like this, especially if they are a new customer and unsure about your business. People want to feel comfortable shopping with you and little gestures like this can help ease some of their concerns.

New Year Promotion

Once the holidays are over, it’s a good idea to offer a New Year’s promotion of some kind. This can get people back in your online store or your brick and mortar store and buying again from you. Many people receive money over the holidays and may be looking to spend it.

The holidays are a great time to generate new business but you must think of ways to retain that business throughout the year. These are just a few ways that you can generate new sales from your existing customer base throughout the year.
